Venture Description : Mobility is a transportation consultancy that helps private employers, housing units, and other organizations in under-served communities set up their own micromobility system.
Why did you apply to the Impact Accelerator?
It was the right fit, and the right timing. Our goal is to create impact, the Accelerator’s goal is to help with that, and Hartford needs a new micromobility partner that cares about under-served communities, and brings business to local bike-shops.
What makes you the most qualified to start this particular business?
My team; we have an MBA graduate with several years of experience in non-profit foundations, a technical writer and content developer pursuing her graduate degree at Carnegie Mellon, and down in Columbus, we have a bike fanatic who also got his engineering degree with me.
How does your company create a positive social or environmental impact?
We give transportation (bikes) to people who need it most. The positive externalities of riding bikes is needless to say, but most importantly, we target people and organizations who tell us and show us that they NEED a bike, or it would make a big difference in their day-to-day transportation, but can’t afford other modes. Additionally, we use upcycled bikes from a local bike shop, putting money back into the part of the community that can support the bike infrastructure.
If you were to win the $10,000 grand prize at the Venture Showcase, what would you do with it?
Purchase bikes, locks, and helmets from BiCiCo and storage space so that we’re ready to pilot at the next location as soon as possible.
