Our mission is to advance the social enterprise sector. We believe every business has the potential to consciously improve society while being financially successful. We inspire businesses to thrive by acting through a socially-beneficial perspective across three levels of programming: Creating Social Enterprises, Propelling Social Enterprises, and Changing the Norm.
Our foundational entrepreneurial programs allow us to help startups along a spectrum of growth. From ideation to launch, we aim to create social enterprises through our Food Incubator, Student Incubators, Workshops and Mentor Network support. We propel social enterprises to scale and embed impact in their business model, through the Impact Accelerator, access to capital, and consultative partnerships. Finally, we aim to change the norm by advocating among policymakers and the public, provoking thought leadership, and advancing Impact Investing. Most recently, we launched the reSET Forum: Creating the Future We Want to Inhabit, as a response to Covid19.
reSET was founded in 2007 by Kate Emery to help traditional businesses incorporate impact into their business model. We are driven by a conviction that every business can consciously improve society while being financially successful.

In 2010, reSET hosted its first Beyond Business as Usual conference, bringing together more than 200 people for a lively conversation about changing our expectations of business and how to add a social purpose to the bottom line.
In 2014, reSET was instrumental in the B Corp Legislation for the state of CT, which protects companies who prioritize impact in addition to profits.
Today, we are able to serve over 200 entrepreneurs each year, and reach thousands of community members through events, partnerships, and digital engagement.
We envision Hartford as a thriving community characterized by a diverse and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem, a broad range of firms committed to providing both social and economic value, and a population that is empowered and enfranchised to address and ameliorate social and economic challenges. New business creation provides thriving wage jobs in our state, creates revenue, and empowers the people we serve to design the lives they want to live and impact their communities accordingly.
