Meet Parkville! (One of Hartford’s Growing Innovation Places)
In case you didn’t catch Steve Singer’s Hartford Courant piece this past weekend, it reported the latest on Connecticut Innovations/CTNext’s “Innovation Places.” The hope is that the new program, which seeks to establish ‘vibrant, urban, innovative, entrepreneurial’ areas throughout the state, will better connect colleges, hospitals and other anchor institutions with entrepreneurs. The primary goal being to draw investment, promote new businesses and spur job growth. reSET’s surrounding neighborhood, Parkville, is already organically growing into a place of entrepreneur activity and innovation!
So to commemorate the momentum, we’re thrilled to share with you the following vignettes on all of the great things that are already happening here.
Special shoutouts are in order to Sen. John Fonfara (D-Hartford), who negotiated the important piece of legislation calling for innovation places.
And to our Digital Media Intern Matthew Bilmes, who produced this series. Matt is a rising junior at UConn, where he’s majoring in Digital Media and Design with a concentration in 2D Animation and Motion Graphics, and minoring in Digital Marketing and Analytics. We may be biased, but we think he did an incredible job of capturing Parkville’s essence.
Last but not least, thank you to our neighbors, who opened their doors to our cameras and who make this place what it is.
