RESET RALLIES TO GIVE GOOD BUSINESS A BOOST WITH A WALK TO THE LEGISLATIVE OFFICE BUILDING IN SUPPORT OF BENEFIT CORPORATION LEGISLATION.

HARTFORD Conn. – reSET, the Social Enterprise Trust, believes that the time is now for- Benefit Corporation Legislation to pass in Connecticut, and is asking for supporters of social enterprise to #walkthewalk2014 and join reSET staff on January 14, 2014 for a walk to the Legislative Office Building– 300 Capitol Ave., Hartford, CT.

Currently twenty other jurisdictions, including every state that shares a border with Connecticut has passed this legislation, which will empower social entrepreneurs who operate businesses that combine purpose with profit, creating jobs and a positive social impact within the state.

There are many social entrepreneurs in Connecticut actively waiting to incorporate as a Benefit Corporation once this legislation passes. Those entrepreneurs want to make a statement, and demonstrate that their businesses are committed to affecting positive change in their communities, as well as generating profits.

This is reSET’s 3rd year supporting enabling legislation for social enterprise. This is your chance to show your support, join us on January 14th and together let’s make 2014 the year we bring Benefit Corporations to Connecticut.

WHAT: #walkthewalk2014 a walk to the Connecticut Legislative Office Building for the Informational Session on Benefit Corporations.

WHERE: Begins at reSET 99 Pratt St., Hartford, CT. Ends at Legislative Office Building 300 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT hearing room 2C.

WHEN: Tuesday January 14, 2014 at 12:00pm with Informational Forum to follow at 2:00PM.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The Informational Forum at the LOB will begin at 2:00PM ending by 3:30PM. Kate Emery (The Walker Group), James Woulfe (reSET, the Social Enterprise Trust), Erik Trojian (B-Lab), John Lawrence (CT BAR Association), and social entrepreneur Chris Brechlin (Blueprint for a Dream) will appear before the Commerce Committee to discuss the legislation.

For those interested in expressing their support but who cannot make the walk, free parking is available at the Legislative Office Building. In addition, anyone who parks at the 1 Talcott Plaza Garage should bring their ticket into reSET, and reSET will validate your parking for a $5 rate.
