his blog series offers a glimpse of reSET’s summer internship program in entrepreneurship. The series aims to capture interns’ experiences, both with reSET’s curriculum and the startups that they are working alongside. Our fourth blogger, Cydonnie Henry, is a first-generation graduate of The University of Saint Joseph.
I recently graduated from the University of Saint Joseph with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Business Management. Becoming an entrepreneur was never my first choice, but after seeing how much my parents struggled to make ends meet in 9-5 jobs, I knew that I had to break the cycle of financial limitation. I took many business courses while I was in school and read books about business.
One of the benefits of being an intern at reSET is working on my own business ideas. During my sophomore year in college, I started an event called Dream Youth, which I hoped to one day transform into a company/social enterprise. And I’m now exploring that possibility with reSET. Another privilege of being an intern here is working with three startups. I’ve been working with FitPartyMe, Noteworthy Chocolates and Untapped Potential. I think reSET did a great job in pairing me with these companies because their missions are generally something I have experience with, and thus, want to learn more about. So far, I’ve worked on digital marketing/graphic design, digital content creation, market research, event planning and public relations projects for them.
At the end of my internship, I’m confident that I’ll know what a business model, lean methodology, value proposition and market segment is, and I have no doubt that this experience will serve me well in the future.
